Being able to deal competently with data is essential for companies and their employees today in order to stay one step ahead of the competition. In a study by the Frauenhofer Academy, the majority of companies surveyed stated that specialist skills in the areas of data science, coding, web development, artificial intelligence and cyber security are very relevant. At the same time, however, data skills are only moderately available at more than a third of the companies. The skills are not there overnight, but have to be learned. Digitization academies with different focuses help with this. We introduce you to what we consider to be the most important academies:
"Data Training for Professionals" – That's the slogan of StackFuel. The Berlin-based start-up has set itself the goal of providing employees with important long-term data skills through online courses.
Online training in all relevant data technologies is designed to prepare employees for the digital world of work. Data science experts impart the necessary know-how in various interactive courses with real-life scenarios. The repertoire includes training in data awareness, data management, coding, data analysis and storytelling using data. The courses last between one and 18 weeks, but can be completed at the student's own pace.
Having data competence within the company itself is extremely important in order to remain competitive and not be dependent on external experts. It not only saves time and money, but is essential in order not to lose touch. Digitization is constantly evolving and employees who can handle data are increasingly in demand for various activities.
2. CODE Berlin
CODE is not an actual company, but a private, state-recognized Berlin university. The aim is to impart the skills for the working world of the future in various courses of study. In its own words, students are to become "the digital pioneers of tomorrow.
Interested parties can earn their bachelor's degree in software development, interaction design or product management. Learning takes place on real projects and knowledge is imparted in practically oriented workshops. With supervision from mentors, students can learn independently.
CODE not only teaches important digital skills, but above all independent, innovative thinking - a valuable competence in the rapidly changing job market. The degree program lays the foundation for thinking driven by a pioneering spirit.
3. Digital Business University Berlin (DBU)
Another innovative Berlin university is the Digital Business University. Here, too, the skills for tomorrow's job market are taught.
In addition to the Digital Business, Digital Marketing & Communication Management, Data Science & Business Analytics, and Digital Business Management degree programs, there are offerings for agile continuing education for working professionals and companies.
In so-called learning sprints, new digital skills are taught within a maximum of 15 hours that can be completed flexibly. The bachelor's degree program takes place on online learning platforms; classroom sessions at the DBU are optional. Learning takes place with self-contained modules, which are dealt with one after the other in self-learning phases, rather than in parallel.
The DBU focuses on independent learning instead of frontal instruction in the lecture hall. Like CODE, this university also promotes agile, innovative thinking.
4. Le Wagon
"Change your life, learn to code." - At Le Wagon, the most important coding skills are to be learned within a few weeks in so-called coding bootcamps. The courses are available in more than 39 cities in 20 countries.
The web development course teaches participants how to write their own software; the data science course covers skills from Python to Machine Learning. The bootcamps can be completed either 9 weeks full-time or 24 weeks part-time. The focus of Le Wagon is thus on individual people who want to improve their tech skills in order to find a job in the tech industry or even start their own business.
Le Wagon makes it possible to be able to program within a few weeks with their intensive boot camps. To be prepared for the working world of the future, you don't need a new degree or a company that supports you in your further education. Mastering programming languages is the ideal foundation for specializing in other areas of digitization and automation.
5. Bots & People
Bots & People is the first academy for business process automation. We don't just help individuals to jump-start their careers with new skills, but also enable companies to automate their processes and thus work more efficiently and cost-effectively. So we go one step further than just teaching the basic skills of digitization and automation.
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Process Mining are among the fastest growing technologies of all time. In 2019, the RPA market grew 63%. The average for software is 13%. RPA can be used to automate monotonous, mindless tasks, such as sending the same mails over and over again or copying data from Excel spreadsheets. In online training courses, you can learn flexibly and exchange information with other talented people in a network.
