Table of contents

The Challenge

Deutsche Telekom, a global telecommunications leader, set out to embed Generative AI into daily workflows for thousands of employees worldwide. The objectives were clear: deliver AI training at scale, enable employees to confidently use AI tools, and measure real productivity gains.

At the same time, many employees faced practical challenges. Finding the right AI tools, writing effective prompts, and staying compliant with internal policies required guidance. These factors made it harder to fully integrate AI into everyday work.

How We Delivered Scalable AI Training at Deutsche Telekom

Together with Deutsche Telekom, Bots & People designed large scale learning formats tailored to a global organization. The focus was on hands on practice combined with scalable enablement.

Promptathons

Promptathons were introduced as interactive learning sessions where employees worked hands on with AI, improved their prompting skills, and applied AI directly to real work scenarios.

In 2023 and 2024, Deutsche Telekom started with Basic Promptathons for Beginners, upskilling around 7,000 employees across both years. In 2025, the initiative expanded significantly, reaching 13,000 employees in one year.

Over time, the workshops were further developed into different formats and tailored to specific functions, including Project Managers, Sales and Marketing, Finance, Data Analysis, Developers, and Coders.

Each session included practical use cases relevant to daily work. Examples included prompting for storytelling and creative work as well as prompting for analyzing data.

The Results

Between 2023 and 2025, Deutsche Telekom trained employees globally in Generative AI and established a scalable learning program.

  • 18,000 Deutsche Telekom employees trained in Generative AI
  • 1.9 hours saved per employee per day on average
  • 59 NPS score across programs
  • 35 supported languages across 23 countries
